WHY BE SNARKY?

Surviving with Snark was inspired by my breast cancer journey. So much of what those in treatment see and hear is uplifting, positive, bullshit. This site isn't for toxic positivity. Instead, it's about laughing, commiserating, and being snarky.

So who am I? I am Katie. I was inducted into the Shitty Titty Committee (STC) when diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer at 29 weeks pregnant with my first and only child. Because being both HER2+ and hormone positive is less than ideal when pregnancy hormones are going crazy, I had a lumpectomy a week later. I was induced at 34 weeks (and had a healthy happy baby who didn't even have to go to the NICU), started TCHP chemo two weeks later, had a double mastectomy, finished a year of Herceptin and Perjeta, had reconstructive surgery, and am now one year into 10 years of Tamoxifen (hormone therapy).

I am not a rainbows and unicorns type of girl. For each of my chemo's, I made a new snarky shirt. That's where many of my designs come from. However, after requests, I started to branch into other cancers, diseases, disabilities, and people in general.

BoobieQueen Co.

10% of all purchases go to support BoobieQueen Co. It's an amazing non-profit that supports those with breast cancer under the age of 45. I was fortunate enough to attend a BreastRest Retreat, so I know firsthand how amazing this organization is.

Family Fun

I realized that there is also a shortage of fun shirts for those who supported survivors during treatment and after. There is especially a shortage of shirts for babies, toddlers, and kids. So, JoJo (my daughter) inspired me to branch out.

More than a Ribbon

Us members of the Shitty Titty Committee deserve more than a simple ribbon. Sometimes our resiliency can be fun and funny. I also wanted to make something fun for my friends, family, and more to celebrate survivors and fighters.
